Hi, I'm Ojen...

An Interaction Design graduate from Santa Monica College. I first started my design career in 3D animation which opened my eyes to interaction design. Throughout the years, I have been a freelance web designer and digital editor for a variety of businesses like LA Bodysuits and World Autoimmune Arthritis Day 2014, a non-profit organization. Web design motivated me even more to take the initial steps in pursuing a career in IxD because of my interest in user experiences. This gave me the opportunity and tools to help people and technology usage in a positive way.

Currently, I volunteer as a professor's assistant at Santa Monica College for the past four years, collaborating with professors, designers, and stakeholders to ensure the needs of the students’ development and outcome. Also, I am the co-founder of a website called "Problem Collective" at www.problemcollective.com. A website platform place where people with disabilities and non-disabilities come together to share their perspectives on issues and concerns, regardless of the subject.

I dedicate this website, www.ojenshammasian.com, to students as a basis for project and portfolio display, communicating structure, organization, and branding.

I believe I have a unique standpoint, because not only do I design through the eyes of IxD designer, but also through the eyes of a paraplegic. I envision using my skills and personal experience to professionally help develop services and products inclusively. I understand not everything can be solved, but through design methodologies, there is always significant research that will light up a fire to inspire and create conversations that will lead to a “How Might We?”

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you want to collaborate!
